Besides making a few mistakes with my profile, I think I'm doing pretty good so far. I'm not quite finished with all the reading and I still have to watch a video, but this week's work was quite doable. In reading Digi Tales, I get the feeling its leading up to making a video. Will we be shown how to do this or are we going to be pretty much on our own? After viewing some of those digital stories,I'm a little nervous. I have no clue how you would do something like that. I'm hoping that we will be taught how to do this sort of thing. I'm also hoping that this would be something that would be easy enough that it would be something that I could use with elementary school age children in the library.
When I went to watch some of the digital stories, I was quite surprised to find so many of them were not available to view. I was surprised to find that many of the stories were in the form of comic strips or graphic type stories.
I had the most difficulty thinking of a future story. I don't have more than fifteen years yet to be in the work force, so trying to think of what could be in the future that would still affect me in school was a little tough. A lot of the ideas in the story are things my family has talked about and wished could come true.

Don't fret over the videos. I will be more than happy to help you through the process if needed. From my experience, it is the programs that make the video look really neat with minimal tech knowledge from the creator. If you can point and click with a mouse, you can create a video. All you need is some pictures or video and a few memories about the pictures (or video). A few of the digital stories didn't work for me either, however I was impressed with the diversity of not only the story plots but the media used to tell them.
ReplyDeleteI thought your future story was good. Having just returned from Disney World, I really enjoyed your "Virtual Lab." The children I saw at the parks we more excited, and spent the most time at the creative, "design/build your own..." attractions.
I think the point of the stories was to dream a little and see what you come up with. Now you have an ideal situation you would like to be a part of. it's time to see what you can do to achieve it. Follow your Disney inspiration and see what dreams you can turn into realities.
(Like I said, just got back from Disney World. I think I'm still in the happy-go-lucky state of mind)
Wanda,
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with your assessment on this week's work. At first it seemed like a ton to do. I made a list of everything that we had to do and it contained 12 items, most of which I thought had to be done by Sunday. I guess really the blog needed to be done by then, but it would have been tough to do the blog post without doing most of the work. I still have a little bit of reading to do, but I should have everything else done.
I also have very little experience making videos online, and I'm sure that will be part of our work in this class eventually. The final product makes it look like it should be a difficult process to make but I don't think it will be that bad. The web applications end up doing all the work.
It's been a sad day in Packerland.
